Lenart Krecic, private saxophone, piano, guitar and music theory educator, was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia. He started playing piano when he was 7. At age 14 he switched to saxophone. In 2000 he became the main soloist on tenor saxophone at his Music High School (Ljubljana, Slovenia). He started performing with European musicians in Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Italy. In the fall of 2003 he continued his jazz music studies at The New School University (BFA 2007), and continued at New York University (MM 2009.) He studied with prominent musicians such as: John Purcell, Billy Harper, Reggie Workman, George Garzone, Joe Lovano, Chris Potter and many others. He performed with Reggie Workman, Jason Hwang, Chico Freeman, Wynard Harper, Awery Sharp, Benny Powel, Joe Chambers, Billy Harper, Cecil Bridgewater, Yayoi Ikawa, Keyon Harold and African American Legacy Project. On his debut album The Chain of Sounds (2010) he collaborates with: Chris Potter, Marcus Gilmore, John Beaty, Adam Jackson and Mr. Kenny Davis. Additional recordings on ‘Statements’ (2007) with Reggie Workman, Yayoi Ikawa and Igor Bezget securely placed him into a category of the most prominent up coming jazz musicians - saxophonists in the world. Currently Lenart performs and teaches between United States and Slovenia, and continues his studies in physics at City University of New York. With Igor Bezget he started creating an original music for Maya Movement Energy, which communicates a lasting change through gradual physical transformation, renewal in a way we think about ourselves, listen to ourselves, and connect with harmony, peace and tranquility. |
