Description
Founded by Artistic Director Maya Milenovic Workman (interdisciplinary artist) and
Executive Director Reggie Workman (Legendary Jazz Musician), The Montclair Academy
of Dance and Laboratory of Music, Inc. is an arts center that supports the development
of students ages three through eighteen and above in the interdisciplinary arts: music,
dance, theater and video.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to provide a music, dance, theater and video interdisciplinary laboratory
for children and teens interested in the art expression. A partnership is cultivated
between the students and their teachers to develop artistic literacy, skill, and individual
creative expression. Teachers are trained in various teaching techniques and improvisation,
including Howard Gardner’s Multiple Intelligences Theory, to help each individual child
recognize and develop creativity and critical thinking within. MADLOM provides a strong
community connection through a variety of outreach programs, including school
residencies and performances.

Interdisciplinary workshops for seniors.
Internships, and a generous number of scholarships, are available to the community
and their families.
Artistic Director Maya Milenovic Workman follows the scripture written by Leonardo Da
Vinci: "It should not be hard for you to stop something and look into the stains on walls,
or ashes of a fire, or clouds, or mud or like places in which ... you may find marvelous
ideas."
